Commie Fever
Depending on which pundit or poll you are paying attention to, Joe Biden is either as inevitable as the come or in deep trouble in his pursuit of the Democratic presidential nomination. His demeanor doesn’t really give away what he thinks about his chances. He acts like a slow kid on a sugar high no matter what the circumstances.
The elevator pitch for Biden is that he’s the only one who can compete with and beat Trump in the non-coastal parts of the United States that Democrats like to spend most of their time pretending don’t exist. One BIG reason for that is that Biden hasn’t been hanging out on the progressive lunatic fringe with Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
So far.
Crazy Joe the Wonder Veep came out swinging with something on Monday night that sounded as if it were written by Bernie himself:
True, anti-corporate rhetoric is nothing new for Democrats — they hate any private sector success. In this campaign that has seen mainstream Democratic candidates lurch leftward like never before, however, the “Amazon is evil!” screeching has been mostly left to the avowed progressives.
Biden is supposed to be the one who doesn’t hate all things American — that’s Bernie and Fauxcahontas Land.
Of the Top 5 industries donating to Biden 2020, three are “lawyers/law firms,” “real estate,” and “securities and investments.”
There’s a whole lotta corporate America up in there, boys and girls.
Pointing out that the most successful companies in America have availed themselves of loopholes in our convoluted tax code may whip the Bernie Boys into a frenzy, but Biden is supposed to be appealing to people in flyover country. Flyover Dems may not all be “Rah-rah” when it comes to corporate America, but a lot of them do work for — you guessed it — corporations.
Biden would be better off demonizing Michael Bloomberg for being a billionaire than he is in joining the Warren/Sanders anti-Amazon parade.
If Biden underperforms in both Iowa and New Hampshire, there is a real possibility that he will fall off of the leftist cliff, unable to ever return to whatever passes for the center over on that side now. Therein lies the real danger in these semi-longing glances he’s currently making to the left.
