The headline from The New York Times said this:
Trump Targets Michigan in His Ploy to Subvert the Election
In a brazen step, the president invited Republican state leaders in Michigan to the White House as he and his allies try to prevent the state from certifying Joe Biden’s clear victory there.
And over in The Washington Post was this headline: “Trump uses power of presidency to try to overturn the election and stay in office.”
Hello?
I am writing this column from suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the State Capitol building a mere couple miles away across the Susquehanna River. And in that Capitol Friday there was scheduled by the Republican-controlled State Government Committee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives a hearing as part of the committee’s investigation into the election.
The scheduled witnesses were representatives of Dominion. And lo and behold on Thursday night, the literal night before the hearing, State Representative Seth Grove, the Committee chairman, was notified that, in his words, Dominion had “lawyered up” and backed out of the hearing. Said Chairman Grove:
“Last evening Dominion voting systems lawyered up and backed out of their commitment to the people of Pennsylvania to provide input in a public format in which 1.3 [million] Pennsylvanian’s entrusted. Instead of running toward the light of honesty and integrity, Dominion Voting Systems retreated to the darkness.
Why? Why would a vendor of public goods fear discussing their products sold to the public for the public good? If Dominion’s products were successful and operated as they were supposed to why wouldn’t Dominion take the opportunity to publicly review its success?
How hard is it to say our ballot machines worked exactly as promised and they are 100 percent accurate? Why after weeks of accusations has Dominion Voting Systems not released any analysis of the success of their voting machines to the public in order to stop their accusers in their tracks?
If they have nothing to hide, why are they hiding from us? I am sad to report to the tax payers of Pennsylvania, the 1.3 million voters who trusted Dominion Voting Systems with their ballots that Dominion Voting Systems has hung you out to dry and slapped you in your faces.”
Hmmm. As this is written, this news is nowhere to be found in The Washington Post. It is nowhere to be found in The New York Times. Maybe it will at some point. Maybe.
Much less have either paper assigned a Woodward and Bernstein-style investigation of just what is going on with election fraud in this country and the role of voting system companies in this business.
Hmm. Isn’t this curious.
The Trump legal team has been making allegations about the lack of security surrounding voting system companies. And the media is frantically trying to debunk them when not ignoring them altogether, now saying that to contest the results produced by these companies is nothing less than trying to subvert the election.
But strangely, once upon a time — that would be December of 2019 — there was an entirely different approach in the liberal media.
On December 6, 2019 Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and Oregon’s Ron Wyden, along with Wisconsin Democrat Congressman Mark Pocan, wrote a lengthy, detailed and footnoted letter to the two co-chairmen of an investment firm called H.I.G.Capital, LLC. The company is based in Miami, Florida.
The letter wanted information on the company’s investment in Hart InterCivic, Inc., described as “one of three election technology vendors responsible for developing, manufacturing and maintaining the vast majority of voting machines and software in the United States, and to request information about your firm’s structure and finances as it relates to this company.”
The letter also said:
“We are particularly concerned that secretive and ‘trouble plagued companies’ owned by private equity firms and responsible for manufacturing and maintaining voting machines and other election administration equipment, ‘have long skimped on security in favor of convenience,’ leaving voting systems across the country ‘prone to security problems.’”
Note the quote marks in that section of this five-page, footnoted-in-detail letter? The quotes are taken from this 2018 story found at, yes, the Associated Press. The headline of that AP piece: “US election integrity depends on security-challenged firms.”
As an indication of just how widespread was this concern over election security by the liberal media before the 2020 election returns were in are the liberal media and think tank or activist sites sources listed by the letter from Senator Warren and her colleagues. They include:

A Pennsylvania County’s Election Day Nightmare Underscores Voting Machine Concerns
How “everything went wrong” in Northampton County.
That’s right. The Times was alarmed at the results in Northampton County, where serious flaws with the voting machine systems gave a Democratic candidate for judge a mere 140 votes out of 55,000 cast. Said the Democratic County chairman: “People were questioning, and even I questioned, that if some of the numbers are wrong, how do we know that there aren’t mistakes with anything else?”
Indeed.
So to sum up? Once upon a time the liberal media was repeatedly insisting that the election voting systems were susceptible to all manner of security problems. They wrote it up — a lot.
But now? To question this self-same problem when the election involves Trump it is suddenly unpatriotic. For the Trump campaign to demand an investigation – echoing what Elizabeth Warren and her Democratic colleagues were saying in 2019 - and suddenly the self-same liberal media, as represented by those latest headlines from the Times and Post, is now subverting an election, overturning it to stay in office.
Right.
Hypocrisy on steroids. No surprise.
