‘No person can say this was a fair trial’: Candace Owens weighs in on Chauvin guilty verdict

News & Politics

Candace Owens decried the guilty verdict against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin as “mob justice,” telling Fox News’ Tucker Carlson that “no person can say this was a fair trial.”

What are the details?

Chauvin was convicted Tuesday afternoon on all three counts including second- and third-degree murder charges in the death of George Floyd, who died last year after the ex-cop was seen on video kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes during detainment.

Tuesday evening, Owens joined Carlson to provide her take on the outcome of the trial, telling the host, “What we’re really seeing is mob justice, and that’s really what happened with this entire trial.”

“This was not a trial about George Floyd or Derek Chauvin,” she argued. “This was a trial about whether the media was powerful enough to create a simulation and decide upon a narrative absent any facts.”

Speaking of Floyd, Owens told Carlson:

“You know, the media came out — let’s not forget this, Tucker — the media came out and told us that this was a man who was just getting his life together, he was a good member of society, and he got mixed up because a racist, white police officer had it out for him and killed him. All of that fell apart…we now know, of course, that he had enough fentanyl in him, it was three times the lethal dosage — three times the lethal dosage — in him when he died. But nobody cares because the media was successful in putting out a narrative and they kept hitting that narrative.”

Owens went on to say that “the reason Democrats are happy is because they realize, of course, the media supports them and [that] now means that Democrats can get whatever they want because they can create a narrative and then they can treat people like pawns and basically get them to say, ‘if we don’t get what we want, we will riot, we will loot, we will send these people out like soldiers to destroy neighborhoods.’ And that is exactly what has happened.”

She added, “This was not a fair trial. No person can say this was a fair trial.”

Anything else?

Following the verdict, President Joe Biden addressed the nation to celebrate the jury’s decision, vowing to address what he called America’s “systemic racism.”

Both he and Vice President Kamala Harris promised to implement federal police reforms in tribute to George Floyd’s legacy.

  1. She is so right on her take of this trial. Waters made sure the trial was fixed by her dumb and vulgar comments in swaying the verdict.

    1. Even if this Black man was a Cop Killer & on drugs – The cops are not allowed to kill people. Just do your job Whitey !

      1. Louis, he was doing his job. It wasn’t murder, it was manslaughter. He didn’t go into the situation to kill this criminal, but because of his actions the guy died. That’s why he went to trial. The thing to do now is to help blacks understand that you have to respect authority, black or white, you have to obey the laws, you have to stop resisting arrest, you have to quick fleeing the scene, and most of all you have to have blacks stop killing blacks.

        1. You’re right, except most likely he died from a drug overdose, but yes they need to learn to respect authority.

          1. Floyd did not die of a drug overdose, that was proven in the trial by experts. He died from asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen because his breathing was cut off. The fact that people come in here and comment making these type of statements after weeks of scientific facts were presented is a joke. In this particular situation, Candace Owens is a dumb kunt looking for publicity.

        2. thank you, when I was coming back from the Vietnam war people spit on me and called me baby killer but I didnt call the police because I knew it was the stupid uneducated people and now that I am 73 I’m amazed that they are still around running from the police and using drugs. I wish I had died in the war and not see this country as it is now. I am ashamed to be an american now.

        3. Very true statement, their actions are causing a lot of these shootings, they do not want to admit that. They just want to blame white people for everything, and I’m tired of it, we all have consequences for our actions.

        4. the bottom line here is that Floyd resisted arrest repeatedly and the drugs took him in. Had he not been on the drugs and also did not resist the law, he would be still alive. None of this would have happened to him. None! Our justice system is the ones who are recist.

      2. Actually they are dummy. That’s why they have guns! Lisren to the cops and walk cooperatively to the car and your odds of living increase dramatically!

      3. Why does this fool get to use racist remarks and not be banned? If I used a racist term against him I would be called a racist and most likely be canceled. Look up baby murderer in Syracuse NY. A black man kills an 11 month old baby, and a few years back shoots a 13 year old in the head and gets to walk the streets again why? nothing on main stream media go figure. Louis you are an ignorant racist fool!

        1. Fentanyl Mooky Boi didn’t die in da skreet, as most dumbasses believe. The filthy career criminal lump of shit died much later at a hospital.

      4. If I were to look up the definition of “racist”, I would probably see a picture of you louis!!! This is a perfect example of a racist comment!! How would you like it if I called you n*gger??!! Anyone, no matter what the color of their skin, can be a racist. You just proved it!!

      5. “Just do your job WHITEY”????????? Nice way to promote love and understanding among God’s people. What a sad little man you are. I will pray for you.

      6. Just say no? And don’t resist arrest and this pillar of society would still be alive. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Got any freshly printed 20’s?

      7. And don’t pass counterfeit money, take drugs , resist arrest or point guns at pregnant women as you break into their house non whitey. Comply and you little scared criminals will survive just like every other criminal. Fact.

    2. I believe the jury despite being sequestered and ordered not to view or listen to “anything” already knew what verdict they had better arrive at.

  2. Should be a slam dunk for a MISTRIAL….. that is IF we had a real justice system.
Sooooo I’m not counting on “justice” being done for the ex-cop!!

    1. You are right, I’d go further & say it should have been halted in it’s tracks before it ended by the Judge somehow. He seemed to be very unhappy with the racist Maxine Waters talk, Biden’s too. Surely a mistrial, appeal, will happen. It’ll take some high powered, high profile brave attorney & some help from some honest political people to make it work. My question today is: how can you be guilty of 3 different levels of crime on the same crime & be sentenced to all of that? Maybe in sentencing it will make sense but if you commit Murder 2, then how are you actually guilty of Manslaughter? It’s one or the other. If it’s Murder 2, that is not Manslaughter? If it’s anything, it’d have to be manslaughter to me but I don’t think they proved that or for sure what killed him. Seems like he killed himself with drugs & as in all cases, his fighting the cops ended up in a bad situation. If I fought the Cops, I’d risk being hurt or killed myself, even as an old white guy. Nobody looks at statistics on who kills whom & that blacks do the huge majority of violence & that whites are killed by Cops way more & it’s not all that many unarmed that are killed anyway. Mostly brought on by the ones killed with a few mistakes thrown in……..when blacks begin to understand that white cops & whitey in general are not their enemy, we can join together & throw out the real enemy , the oppressive radical Communists in government who need a boogie man to overthrow our government to be Commies. It was the Jews in Germany & the Czar in Russia, now? It’s the non existant systemic racism? Bull. Don’t buy into it.

      1. Waters’ statements were outrageously wrong,…but that’s not what swayed the verdict. Seeing the video of a man die under the knee of an officer is what swayed the verdict! It’s as simple as that!

        1. First the video I saw showed that the knee was not across the neck as the media claimed but on the shoulder blade the entire time. Then the M.E. (medical examiner) who did the autopsy ruled the death was not caused by asphyxiation. That is in the court record. But there was enough fentynol to kill a horse.

    1. Sad thing is if the cop had just yelled get me an ambulance asap this guy is on drugs. We wouldn’t even be talking about this.

  3. 12 jurors found him guilty not the media. jury was sequestered ( that means they had no access to media) so waters comments never reached the. multiple eye witnesses testified to what they witnessed. the ex cop is murderer. why can’t you people stop with your hate and total refusal to see the truth ? trump is gone, stop believing his con game you fell for. get a life!

    1. Sorry Sammy, but it is you who are either “falling for [a] con game” or are badly misinformed and need to get your facts straight (and possibly “get a life”). Judge Cahill did NOT order the jury to be sequestered.

      1. F U 2…..Pure political/media railroad. The officer followed his training and an overdosing drug addict known criminal died , now our justice system is dying.. Look into Floyd’s past. He did this before , overdosed and had to be given narcan.

      2. That’s the TRUTH! If AFTER he was put in CUFF’s the THREAT TO ALL was basically diminished so WHY did the COP have to put his knee on his throat. Video DOES NOT lie! I’m sure he might of had some drugs in his system. But if he DIDN’T have a knee on his throat he would probably be alive today. COP was wrong! From what I’ve read they knew each other & worked with each other at a BAR. I believe they both were some kind of BOUNCER at the bar. But the COP was a cop and FLOYD was someone I believe the COP knew that WASN’T an UP standing citizen. And I’d say the COP took advantage of the situation because he wore a badge, and it BACK FIRED on him BIG TIME!

    2. F U…..Pure political/media railroad. The officer followed his training and an overdosing drug addict known criminal died , now our justice system is dying.. Look into Floyd’s past. He did this before , overdosed and had to be given narcan.

    3. It was a good death! Jo more wuite women will be threatened with guns, no more petty crines, theft, passing counterfeit money, etc. One less drug addict criminal on the streets. Everyone in MN should feel a little safer, but With kamala & ioes auntqueefa & burn loot murder thugs rioting there, it will take a while.

    4. They were not sequestered prior to deliberations . Let’s be honest you would need to bring a jury in from Mars to find someone unaware of this case

  4. White law enforcement should decline to respond to minority suspects! Only minority law enforcement should be assigned to minority suspects! But who the hell wants to put up with the abuse and disrespect that law enforcement is forced to endure!

    1. Maybe Cops (White or Black) Should Learn How To Do Their Job, Right ! Which is a taser & which is a gun … Duhhh !

      1. Oh no, tasers are deadly too, unless of course a criminal black is using them, or attempting to use one on a cop! Lol! Jist ask the idiot, racist prosectutor Ellison.See how that works dummy!

    2. Personally I think all LEO’s should just abandon inner cities. They are not wanted and far to many tax dollars are spent there. I would prefer to see cops riding up and down my street 3-4 times a day instead of once a week. Of course there is very little crime in civilized America. Typically violence is the first reaction for people of low intelligence and that will never change. Putting another couple of planned parenthood’s in every neighborhood and let the thugs sort the rest of it out, I am guessing the problem will go away in 20-30 yrs.

  5. The US judicial system is a joke, a very bad one that should take a giant step to get back to the basics. It can and is being rigged by too many to let the top crooks slide! It would be better to put bars on the CIA, FBI, and the Department of Justice and all of politicians offices in DC; and not let any of them out. And we aren’t even getting to the fake media!

  6. I’m so fed up with the devil in Washington have to pray vengeance on all the raft of the Lord is final and they won’t know what hit them when it happens vengeance is mine says the Lord

  7. it was farce of a trail , maxxine waters , had no right to infiltrate that trial with her racest coments. then you have the blm asshole right out side courthouse reddy to destroy eveything in their way ,if the didnt like the results ! justice has gone to hell in this country, george floyde was a thug ! most of them clowns geting shot were crininals! why does this country honor these thugs ?that trial was tainted with democrap bs .

      1. He should have gotten an award. White or black, even though he wasnt responsible for the criminals death, there is one less violent, gun offending criminal on the streets. He actually did whst the police academy trained him to do. Interesting that he couldn’t breathe but he could talk?! I guess he won’t be doing any drugs or sticking guns in the stomach of pregnant white women. So, that’s great news.

      2. How is his comment racist?? What he wrote is the truth. Although, with the way liberals think, anything that does not follow their agenda is racist. The death of floyd has nothing to do with black or white. If it were the exact same circumstances, only it was a white criminal (or a black criminal) and a black cop, the lame stream media, blm, demoncrats, antifa, etc would not have bothered with this. That is the definition of racism.

    1. John, I totally agree with your comment. How can anyone in our country ever get a fair trial? Our courts are upside down and backwards and sorry to say even our Supreme Court. George Floyd was not a good man. He had a police record, had spent time in prison, had passed funny money to that store owner, and yet I never heard once how he came by that counterfeit bill, did you? The Medical Examiner said he had 3 times the legal amount of fentanyl in his system. How he was even still conscience is beyond me. That alone should have killed him. He wouldn’t cooperate when the cops were trying to get him into their car, with him pleading he was claustrophobic. He was upset that he got caught and doing all he could to not go to jail. Sorry guy but you had broken the law. Sick of having incidents like this and finding out that the suspect was wanted but for some strange reason the communities do their best to make out these criminals as wonderful people. Our society has gone off a cliff and I am afraid it is to late to be able to turn back. God help us but haven’t we done it to ourselves? And Maxine Waters should be arrested for her insane comments. And they accused Pres. Trump of inciting a riot. What the hell? Only in America can some people get away with such crap.

      1. Maxine Waters’ comments were ridiculously irresponsible, but that doesn’t give license to kill,…nor do his drug problem or previous record. Lots of folks running around. with previous records, but that doesn’t mean they should be killed.

        1. “Lots of people running around with previous records” are not passing counterfeit money, do not resist arrest and are doing just fine. Why is it, because floyd was black, he gets a free pass for resisting arrest and passing counterfeit money? What does that tell people, especially kids, about the way this country is heading?

      2. Agreed 100% and Biden’s running his mouth saying it’s not enough. This President is an embarrassment.

  8. The jury was scared of the public and there should have been a mistrial or a lesser charge if any. The defense evidence would have freed an unknown man without all the notoriety. Was it fair to make an example of Chauvin? How would you like to be made an example of because the public is ready to riot if the evidence put doubt in the jury?
Yes the officer didn’t have to keep his knee on the suspect which would possibly have him fired and an abuse charge.

  9. Anyone who actually expected a fair trial in this mess, is sadly niave. They got their scapegoat, but it will still not be enough. I hope that the officers involved in this will be able to go start a new life somewhere in America, and live in peace. Racists like Maxine Waters will never be satisfied..

    1. Well so he had his knee on his neck so you or i wasn’t there so you or i don;t really know why

    2. He was uncooperative and that’s what the police academy and their training manual teach them to do with uncooperative, violent, drug addicts.

      1. Are you kidding David? His Chief and several colleagues said he went beyond his training and used extreme and unwarranted force!

        1. Did you ever think, that maybe the chief fears for he and his families safety ? The judge, the jury members, every officer out there trying to do their job are put at risk. No trial of this caliber should be held in the area of question. No trial should ever be televised and made public. And politicians should have zero say on any trial, unless it involves them personally. And for the record, the 3 charges will not stand. You cannot be convicted on 3 different levels for 1 crime. The end.

  10. The jury was not sequestered. Perhaps you should consider arming yourself with the facts and think for yourself rather than attempting to advance a narrative that is not your own. Regardless of the outcome or what I believe the outcome should have been, the facts support the argument that Chauvin did not receive a fair trial. This is what I believe, but I am more than willing to listen to a thoughtful and well considered counter-argument. As for the hate that you reference, please take a closer and objective look at the mob with which you identify. If you do so in an intellectually honest manner, you’ll find the source of much of the hatred, intolerance, and racism that is dividing and destroying our country.

  11. I’m glad to see that someone thinks like I do. This was a kangaroo court & the PO was railroaded by false narratives & the threat of much more violence being committed if the MOB didn’t get the verdict they desired. Thanks for standing up & speaking the truth, Candace.

    1. I agree with you, but what is one person’s (cop) life compared to the mob burning, looting and even killing innocent citizens. This trial was a farce.

  12. An appeal is almost guaranteed thanks to loud mouth Maxine & La La Land Biden. Of course blm idiots threatening riots certainly didn’t help either. This was jury intimidation to the max. Remember when that used to be a crime…..

    1. I wonder what effect the millions of dollars paid to Floyd’s family BEFORE the trail will have in an appeal.

  13. On watching the cell-phone video it seemed to me Chauvin wanted to kill Floyd who was a giant of a man, angry and dangerous. That none of the four other officers present did nothing is as great a crime as Chauvin’s actions.

Black people are 100,000 years close to our aboriginal beginnings than white people and therein “might is right.” Blacks have a strong urge to prevail in confrontations where whites are law directed. The difference is profound and we have to educate blacks to bow to our culture instead of their instincts and their only opportunity is to prevail in court.

Where Floyd had three more fake $20 bills he surely knew what he had and was guilty of passing counterfeit bills, hence his total fall back to his instincts, but this seems to be the case in many, if not all such confrontations.

During my teaching career I only had one angry black male and met with his gym coach, who was black, and he counseled the young man. In short order I had good, and capable, student instead of an angry problem. Education can work well in these matters.

    1. That’s amazing! You must have one hell of a crystal ball to know that the officer’s woke up that morning to seek out Floyd ( a known criminal ) to kill him. Just for kicks right? If not your crystal ball then why did you lead off with your rant saying the officer’s wanted to kill Floyd. How do you know that? Or did you assume that? As a teacher you know the alternative for the word assume now don’t you.

  14. Let’s see:
Past history of drug abuse and overdoses, known criminal, past video of him swallowing the evidence causing an overdose.
I can’t breath, yet he had a blood oxygen level of 98%, three times the amount of Fentanyl required to kill the average human, resisting the officers commands, locking his arms around the steering wheel of his vehicle to prevent the officer from gaining control of the situation, had to be taken down twice before the knee to his BACK and neck was applied as PER DEPT TRAINING. ( if you watch closely the knee was not always burring in his neck )
All this happened as a crowd of onlooker surrounded and tried their best to aggravate the situation and work up a mob action.
Since that day the media and political powers the be worked hard to convict the officers all for DOING THEIR JOBS.
In the end the real loser’s here are the honest law abiding public.
Maxine Water has been and always will be a white hater, along with many others , and you know who they are.
Trump had nothing to do with this, only the Democratic left has resulted in the mob mentality to get their way as far as I can remember, and i am 60 plus years old.
So welcome to the wild west boys and girls, it’s just going to get worse.

  15. As Candice Owens said it was a trial by mob. He will appeal as he should. the decision was a decision by fear.

  16. This was not a ‘fair’ and ‘unbiased’ trial. The MSM made sure of that. I doubt an ‘unbiased’ jury pool could have been found, ‘anywhere’ in the country. I’m sure there will be an appeal. I’m thinking the Judge, in this, purposely opened the door for that with a few of the comments he made about the ‘last minute’ evidence the prosecution tried to introduce and about the comments ‘Mad Max’ made. Some of the other questions that need answered are…What is going to happen to those from CBS who identified jurors and where they lived? Given the mature of this trial that should be looked at as jury tampering and intimidation because of the calls for violence if a ‘not guilty’ verdict was announced. This was not a trial for justice of any kind. It was a ‘mock’ trial to satisfy the BLM (Buying Large Mansions) mob. The worst part…’they’ called the shots.

  17. Floyd was a criminal..what would you do if a man held a gun , pointed at your wife’s unborn child , in her womb, while robbing her house. How many people has Floyd hurt in his life ? Obey the law and live a happy life. If it was a black cop and a white criminal, nothing would be said. I’m not white by the way… I’m an American Indian.

  18. Every time I see and hear Candace Owens speak, I am more impressed! This is one brilliant young woman! She seems to see things clearly, without prejudice, and I never hear her parroting someone else’s comments. She has the courage to speak her mind – and she does it SO WELL!
I put her up there with people like Dr. Ben Carson, Larry Elder, et al. We need many more like her!

    1. Wow Janel. Your a little bit late for the party. I’ve already put in my 10 hour day and I’m laughing all the way to the bank. No hand outs for me. It must be really a sad life you have to say such racist remarks. Guess what? Tomorrow you are still going to be black so why don’t you do something constructive with your life.

  19. Ok, here is an odd conspiracy twist. What if Maxine Waters knowingly and intentionally made those statements when she did specifically to allow this trial to be overthrown in appeal?

That would allow her, BLM and the other race baiters an excuse to continue rioting and protesting across the country and keep her and her ilk in power. Keep racism as key target to get what she and her cronies want.

  20. There’s a simple way to resolve all this. Arm each police officer with an attack dog. They work for our military forces and they will work for our police forces. When someone runs or offers resistance – release the dog. If you ever get taken down and held down by an attack dog – I can assure you that you will not run or resist again.
