Big Brother: Biden Team May Partner with Private Firms to Spy on Americans Online: Report

News & Politics

The Department of Homeland Security is limited in terms of how it monitors civilians, but under the Biden Administration, it may recruit outside firms to do its bidding.

“The Biden administration is considering using outside firms to track extremist chatter by Americans online, an effort that would expand the government’s ability to gather intelligence but could draw criticism over surveillance of US citizens,” CNN explained May 3. “The Department of Homeland Security is limited in how it can monitor citizens online without justification.” But government officials are reportedly seeking a means of working around the rules. There is a proposed plan “according to multiple sources” that would, “in effect, allow the department to circumvent those limits” by “using outside entities,” CNN explained.

These “outside entities,” by contrast, would “access these private groups to gather large amounts of information that could help DHS identify key narratives as they emerge.”

Recruiting private firms to do work the DHS cannot do itself may be extremely effective. CNN explained how:

“By partnering with research firms who have more visibility in this space, the DHS could produce information that would likely be beneficial to both it and the FBI, which can’t monitor US citizens in this way without first getting a warrant or having the pretext of an ongoing investigation. The CIA and NSA are also limited on collecting intelligence domestically.”

The DHS is not the first major federal governmental institution under the Biden administration that has sparked concern among the American populace.

The United States Postal Service has been quietly monitoring social media posts, including posts about planned protests. At least some of that specifically targeted “right-leaning accounts,” Yahoo News reported.

The surveillance program, known as the Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP), centers around hired analysts who review social media accounts for “inflammatory” posts to share across government agencies, Yahoo News explained further.

  1. “The Department of Homeland Security is limited in how it can monitor citizens online without justification.”…

…so we force “private companies” to monitor citizens WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION

    1. Since January 20th, 2021, Homeland Security, like the Border Patrol, has had their wings cut.
They are both helpless entities now. Their new bosses have no ‘limitations’, as they continually and openly display their contempt for the people as they carry out their plan to bring us to submission.

  2. How is contracting out the surveillance any different? It’s the same thing as hiring a hit man…the employer is guilty of the same crime!

  3. Typical Socialist move, soon they will ask private citizens to keep an eye on a neighbor and report “suspicious” activity. Don’t believe me look at socialist, communist revolutions read what they have done and compare what is happening now.

  4. So by commenting on this site, I’ve made myself a target of the LEFT’s Big Brother Enforcement Arm… Got it!

      1. Let ’em come! There are still more REAL patriotic LEGAL American than there are these Neo-fascist democrat pieces of anti-American trash!

  5. What do you mean, ” ‘May’ partner with private firms to spy – – -“?
Both parties have been doing that for many years.
The only thing different now is, the demoncrats are not doing it behind closed doors any more!
They don’t have to. They are the top of the food chain now. No one can hold them accountable!
They can do anything they want, no matter how illegal, without fear of prosecution!
Who has the authority? THEIR FBI? THEIR DOJ? The cowardly republicans? I think not.

    1. Tom – about the only thing ya missed is that the ‘private firms’ are lining up for their ‘fair share’ of the tax payer funds that slow joe is doling out. 🙁
We are paying for our own destruction.

BTW, when has a democRAT actually been held accountable for their actions> How much does al (notso)sharpton still owe in back taxes for just one example.

  6. Say it with me. . .SECOND AMENDMENT!!
It is time to begin exercising, as patriotic, LEGAL American it is our duty to EXERCISE!
