Corrupt ABC, CBS Avoid VP’s Border Disaster, Press Psaki to Sideline GOP

News & Politics

ABC and CBS on Thursday wasted interviews with Jen Psaki, avoiding asking the White House Press Secretary about Vice President Kamala Harris’s disastrous handling of the border. Instead, the two network morning shows demanded that Joe Biden stop talking to Republicans and just rule unilaterally.

Rather than speak truth to power, CBS This Morning’s Tony Dokoupil spoke for power. The host wants Democrats to do whatever they want:

I do have a question about American politics and in particular the infrastructure bill. A lot of people have been watching the progress or lack thereof. There’s criticism from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party saying why is President Biden working with Republicans at all on this? It’s clearly a futile effort. So why continue to push for a bipartisan bill when you could just go it alone through reconciliation?

The CBS This Morning co-hosts NEVER mentioned the ongoing disaster at the border or Harris’s refusal to visit. They avoided the debacle of an interview in with Lester Holt in which the NBC anchor corrected her for lying that “we’ve” been to the border. (She hasn’t.) Instead, co-host Gayle King (a Democratic donor) exchanged movie reviews with Psaki:

GAYLE KING: Big week for the Biden administration. When you return back to the states, In the Heights is opening, I highly recommend it. You’re welcome for the suggestion.

JEN PSAKI: I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Over on Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos (a former Democratic operative to Bill Clinton) managed to sound EXACTLY like his CBS colleague. Stephanopoulos highlighted complaints from the far-left Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whining about working with Republicans:

Just before the President left he pulled the plug on those talks he was having on infrastructure with Republican senators. A new group of Republican senator, bipartisan group is meeting right now but the Republican leadership is throwing cold water on that effort and progressive Democrats are getting pretty fired up as well. I want to read a tweet from AOC. She said, “President Biden and Senate Dems should take a step back and asking whether playing pattycake is worth the dismantling of people’s voting right, setting the planet on fire, allowing massive corporations and the wealthy to not pay their fair share of taxes.” Can these talks succeed given that kind of opposition?

Again, Harris and the border never came up. The border may be a disaster, but the corrupt networks are determined to hide that fact from you.

GAYLE KING: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki joins us now. Good morning to you, Jen psaki, reporting from England.

JEN PSAKI: Good morning, how are you?

KING: I’m hanging in there.

Psaki: Yes, here in beautiful Cornwall.

KING: You guys have a big week coming up. I’m glad that the landscape looks good. So far so good. Listen, we just heard from Nancy Cordes that the Biden administration is now going to donate 500 million Pfizer doses to countries that need it most. How is that distribution going to work?

TONY DOKOUPIL: It’s Tony dokoupil here. Good morning to you — almost afternoon in the UK.

PSAKI: Good morning, Tony.

DOKOUPIL: Good morning. I want to look ahead to next week. There’s this highly anticipated meeting with President Putin of Russia, and on the agenda it would appear are the recent cyber attacks exposing these really frightening vulnerabilities in American companies really rattled Americans overall. How does President Biden plan to address those cyber attacks with President Putin? Because we understand that the attackers were inside Russia.

KING: Realistically, Jen, how are you all expecting this meeting to go? The president has been on record as saying he believes Putin is a killer. No surprise Putin did not appreciate that. Do you have any icebreakers planned? How do you think this is going to go? It’s starting off very frosty, and the world is watching.

DOKOUPIL: Jen, while we have you, I do have a question about American politics and in particular the infrastructure bill.

KING: All right. Safe travels on the road. Big week for the Biden administration. When you return back to the states, In the Heights is opening, I highly recommend it. You’re welcome for the suggestion.

PSAKI: I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Good Morning America
6/10/2021
7:05 AM ET

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: We’re joined by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. Jen, thanks for joining us. Let’s start with that big vaccine announcement.

JEN PSAKI: Great to be here.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Good to talk to you. Let’s talk about the big vaccine announcement from the president. 500 million doses around the world. But is it big enough and fast enough to meet the need? They won’t be delivered until next June?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Meantime, the vaccine rates are slowing down here at home. Are you still confident the President’s July 4th goal of 70 percent vaccinations will be met?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Just before the President left he pulled the plug on those talks he was having on infrastructure with Republican senators.

STEPHANOPOULOS: The president is capping it with his summit with Vladimir Putin next week and the latest provocation before the summit, President Putin cracked down on the network of the dissident Alexei Navalny poisoned and in prison. How will president Biden confront Putin and what is the definition of success for this summit?
