Is Government Spending ‘Costless’ If It Confiscates Enough Money to Pay for It?

POLITICS & POLICY

That’s the line the Bidenistas are trying to peddle. It’s risible nonsense that anyone with a bit of sense can see through. Evidently, Biden doesn’t grasp the concept of opportunity cost, or figures that most of the public doesn’t.

In this AIER essay, Professor Richard Ebeling demolishes Biden’s assertion.

Ebeling cuts to the heart of the matter, writing, “From Biden’s own mouth, the largess coming from government can be viewed as costless for those said to be the interest group beneficiaries, only as long as someone else can be made to pay the fiscal tab for it. This is an out-and-out politics of plunder, under which people may be promised practically anything, because the rich Peter will be taxed for the benefit of the deserving Paul.”
