‘There will be blood’: Elon Musk declares he’s assembling ‘litigation department’ of ‘hardcore streetfighters’

News & Politics

Elon Musk proclaimed that he is personally recruiting lawyers for a “hardcore litigation department” at Tesla. Musk threatened that there “will be blood” after he assembles his new cadre of “hardcore” streetfighting lawyers.

“Tesla is building a hardcore litigation department where we directly initiate & execute lawsuits,” Musk tweeted on Friday.

Musk noted that the legal team would report “directly” to him.

Musk vowed that Tesla’s new litigation department “will never seek victory in a just case against us, even if we will probably win.” He also promised, “We will never surrender/settle an unjust case against us, even if we will probably lose.”

The Tesla CEO asked for potential candidates to send him up to five bullet points that show “evidence of exceptional ability.”

Musk requested applicants include “links to cases you have tried.”

The SpaceX founder declared, “Looking for hardcore streetfighters, not white-shoe lawyers like Perkins or Cooley who thrive on corruption. There will be blood.”

Musk is referencing high-profile law firms Perkins Coie and Cooley.

Musk did not detail what legal war he intends to engage in with his upcoming hardcore litigation department.

Musk is currently embroiled in several issues and firestorms.

A Business Insider report claimed that Musk made sexual advances on a former flight attendant during a SpaceX corporate jet flight in 2016. The report alleged that Musk offered the flight attendant “to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage.”

“In November 2018, Musk, SpaceX and the flight attendant entered into a severance agreement granting the attendant a $250,000 payment in exchange for a promise not to sue over the claims,” the report said. “The agreement also included restrictive non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses that bar the attendant from ever discussing the severance payment or disclosing any information of any kind about Musk and his businesses, including SpaceX and Tesla.”

The tech billionaire called the accusations “utterly untrue.” He added that there was “a lot more to this story,” and said the report was a “politically motivated hit piece.”

Musk is also dealing with the revelation that Twitter has a bot and spam problem that is larger than he anticipated before he offered $44 billion to buy the popular social media platform.

Earlier this month, he said that his acquisition of Twitter was on hold.

Musk is also dealing with the backlash to a recent comment where he said that he would vote Republican in the next election.
