Former Bolivian president calls for global campaign to eliminate NATO

(Natural News)
Evo Morales, the erstwhile president of Bolivia in South America, called for a global campaign to eliminate the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He explained that the American military industrial complex is using NATO to provoke wars and sell weapons to other countries.

The former president who served in that capacity for 13 years divulged this fact in an interview with Matt Kennard of Declassified UK, which was published on July 14. Morales commented that in light of the Russia-Ukraine war that an “international campaign” is necessary to explain that “NATO is, ultimately, the United States.” He added that NATO “is not a guarantee for humanity or for life.”

“We have profound ideological differences with the politics implemented by the U.S. using NATO, which are based on intervention and militarism,” Morales told Kennard during the interview.

The former Bolivian leader condemned the fact that Russia was barred from the United Nations Human Rights Council, even though it did not stick its nose in other countries’ affairs.

“How can they exclude Russia from the UN Human Rights Council? When the U.S. has intervened in Iraq, Libya [and] so many [other] countries in recent years, why have they not been expelled? Why was that never questioned?”

Morales ultimately remarked: “Between Russia and Ukraine, they want to reach an agreement – [but the U.S.] keeps provoking war.”

He also had strong words for the military-industrial complex, which he claims is “able to live thanks to war” and provokes wars “in order to sell their weapons.”

Morales, who hails from the indigenous Aymara people, helmed Bolivia from 2006 to 2019. He was deposed during a November 2019 coup, and survived an assassination attempt, thanks to the efforts of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

His successor Jeanine Anez, who sat as interim president for less than a year, lost the country’s October 2020 elections. She was later sentenced to 10 years behind bars in June following a conviction on charges of terrorism and sedition.

Morales: Deep State adherents in US, UK think they own the world

According to Morales, the U.S. itself had been actively undermining Morales’ leadership. One of the U.S. diplomatic cables published by Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks revealed an extensive campaign by the U.S. Embassy in Bolivia to remove the former president. Washington had strong reason to do so as Morales closed down an American military base in the country and expelled agents of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) – both known instruments of the Deep State. (Related: Bolivia ended their war on drugs by kicking the DEA out of their country.)

The U.K. also played a huge part in the November 2019 coup that deposed him and put Anez in power. This was because the European power was eyeing the country’s lithium deposits, the second-largest in the world. The alkali metal was a key ingredient in batteries that the burgeoning electric vehicle industry needed.

Documents released in 2021 showed that the British Embassy in Bolivia was a “strategic partner” to Anez. Kennard attested to this, writing that Downing Street “effusively supported the 2019 coup [by] warmly welcoming the new regime and praising the potential it opened up for British companies to make money from the country’s natural resources.”

Kennard told the former Bolivian president that the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office denied any involvement in the coup, something Morales described as “hard to comprehend.”

“It is impossible to comprehend how a European country, in the 21st century, has the mentality that this was not a coup. It doesn’t make sense,” said the former president.

“It’s a totally colonial mindset. They think that some countries are the property of other nations. They think God put them there, so the world belongs to the U.S. and the United Kingdom. That’s why the rebellions and the uprisings will continue.”
