George Washington University Offers ‘Morning-After’ Pills In A Campus Vending Machine

News & Politics

George Washington University’s newest student attraction is its strategic placement of morning-after pills located on campus at the school’s student center.

According to the Washington Examiner, students can purchase the Plan-B (name brand) “emergency contraceptive pill” along with other items like tampons, Tylenol and Advil. The placement follows the GW student government body’s push for abortion access following the Roe v. Wade reversal.

The pills will be distributed at a discounted rate of $30 compared to the $50 that they run for at most pharmacies.

Aliza Saeed, a senior at GW who helped facilitate the vending machines, told the Washington Post, “You could get Doritos and Plan B at the same time.”

Ah yes, because life is now put on the same level as buying a bag of chips.

GW isn’t the first college campus to offer Plan-B pills. In fact, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, three other very liberal universities, offer the pills as well and are supposedly among a “growing number” of colleges that are part of the #EC4EC (Emergency Contraceptive For Every Campus) campaign.

Not only does the pill placement reemphasize how devalued the life of a child is at GW, but the vending machines serve as a signal to 1. have unprotected sex and deal with none of the consequences and 2. that you need these pills in order to succeed.

It’s important to note that there’s heavy debate, even amongst conservative circles, as to whether or not a Plan B, or generic brand emergency contraception, is an abortion pill or not. The morning after pill makes the woman’s uterus a hostile environment by flushing her body with hormones her body wouldn’t normally produce. In this type of environment, a fertilized egg would have difficulty implanting. Therefore, the Plan B pill can cause an abortion but in some situations an egg is not fertilized and therefore, no child was conceived. Regardless of personal belief or conviction regarding this specific measure, the vending machine signals that casual sex is the norm and life is cheap.

As Chris Plante of WMAL’s The Chris Plante Show stated, “they love death more than we love life.”
