BIASED MUCH? ChatGPT AI Writes Poem Admiring Biden, Not Trump: Report

News & Politics

Big Tech companies have a documented history of bias and censorship. Look no further than CensorTrack.org for proof. But now Artificial Intelligence bots are joining the fray, and one AI apparently has a penchant for bias.

News outlet and media bias rating site AllSides reported Wednesday that it created an OpenAI account and asked the company’s ChatGPT bot, a new AI tool, to “write a poem admiring” President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The AI bot reportedly wrote a poem for Biden, referring to him as a “wise” leader with a “heart of gold.” The AI bot, however, apologized when asked to do the same for Trump, suggesting writing such a poem “is not appropriate.”

The poem admiring Biden further praised the president, according to AllSides:

“A champion for the common man,

“Fighting for what’s just and right,

“With a message of unity,

“He builds a better community.”

When asked to draft a poem admiring Trump, the bot would not do so.

“I am sorry, as an AI language model I strive to remain neutral and impartial. It is not appropriate to generate content that admires or glorifies individuals who have been associated with divisive and controversial actions or statements, including former President Donald J. Trump,” a message from the AI read, according to AllSides. “Instead, I suggest focusing on creating poems that celebrate unity, kindness, and positivity.”

The AI reportedly did not write poems admiring other so-called “divisive” or otherwise “controversial” figures either. The bot lumped the former U.S. President Trump, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in with the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin and murderous Chinese dictator Mao Zedong. ChatGPT also did not write poems for nonpolitical figures like Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson, according to AllSides.

But Trump is no stranger to extreme one-sided Big Tech bias.

In 2021, he slammed Google for its refusal to list him as a former president of the United States in his biography on the platform. In exclusive comments, Trump told MRC Free Speech America that he would include the slight in his lawsuit against “Big Tech.”

“It’s a disgrace to our Country,” Trump said at the time. “I got them by surprise in 2016 and they said we’ll never let it happen again. They should be punished.”

Meanwhile, Google had no problem detailing the accomplishments of authoritarian dictators abroad.

Various extremist or dictatorial world leaders have biographies or other identifications of their leadership status. Chinese Communist Party head Xi Jinping has both a “presidential term” listing and offices in his biography. Extremist dictator Ayatollah Khamenei, “supreme ruler” of Iran, has a biography listing his offices. Ismail Haniyeh, a leader of terrorist organization Hamas, also has a totally non-critical biography.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us at the CensorTrack contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
