Mother of 6-year-old says he was raped by an older boy on school bus numerous times, and driver ignored it

A mother of a 6-year-old boy and several community activists protested outside a Houston, Texas, school district after her son was allegedly sexually molested and assaulted several times on a school bus by an older boy.

Latoya “Stormie” Monroe said that she didn’t know her son was being allegedly assaulted until Jan. 31, when he said that he had lost his backpack.

When she asked Aldine ISD officials to look at video footage from the school bus to find the backpack, she says officials told her that her son had been molested and assaulted by an older boy.

“I would receive a call five hours later, asking me if I could come to the school and pick up my son, and there was an Aldine ISD officer that needed to speak to me,” she said to KTRK-TV.

“I get to the school and find out that my son was sexually assaulted,” she added. “Days of questioning, days of talking to my child. The details became more and more graphic each and every time.”

She said the abuse lasted several months.

“I’m angry. I have no words,” said Monroe, who says she feels as if she failed her son.

Community Activist Quannell X claimed that doctors allegedly discovered internal injuries to the boy after he complained of stomach pains.

“According to the investigator, the bus driver stopped the bus because she thought they were fighting on the back of the bus. But this mother’s child was fighting because he was being raped,” Quannell X said.

The victim was treated at a hospital.

A statement from the district said that details would be limited because of the ongoing investigation.

“An investigation by Aldine ISD PD and district officials immediately began on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, after district administration became aware that an incident occurred on a district bus involving two of our elementary-age students,” read the statement in part. “CPS was notified. Once the investigation has concluded, appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation findings.”

Monroe said her boy is attending school again but is not taking the bus anymore.

“He’s not really, at his age, understanding the magnitude,” she explained. “He actually really stated, ‘Why couldn’t that boy be given a second chance? If God gives second chances, why couldn’t the perpetrator get a second?'”
