WATCH: Rumble Super Bowl Ad Mocks YouTube Censorship

 Online video platform Rumble promoted its “Steve Will Do It” Super Bowl ad mocking YouTube for its obsession with censorship.

The ad features a referee identifying as YouTube to enforce so-called violations with yellow “flag[s].” Rumble representative Steve Will Do It’s conversation with the referee mocks the ways a user can be suspended from YouTube, like posting something the platform disagrees with or challenging its rules.

The YouTube referee continues to give Steve Will Do It “flags” for simply for trying to upload his video. “Boom! Boom! Double flag! There goes your video!”

Liberal journalist Glenn Greenwald said Rumble’s ability to attract a younger and more diverse audience would ultimately make the platform a challenger to YouTube, its “Big Tech” rival. “Rumble’s growth is not fueled by homogenous political content but a wide array of political, journalistic and cultural commentators fleeing Big Tech, with a[] younger audience,” Greenwald tweeted along with the ad.

In another tweet promoting the ad, Greenwald said using Rumble will “liberate” video streamers from Big Tech censorship. “Recent polls from Gallup and Pew found 20-25% of Americans already know Rumble. It’s surely higher now with its ongoing national TV advertising blitz — making clear it’s a way of liberating oneself from the censorship and tyranny of Big Tech/YouTube,” he added.

Rumble tweeted out a separate commercial ad as well. In it, “YouTube” is dressed as an umpire calling strikes, but Steve Will Do It counters YouTube, stating that his company promotes free speech and “encourage[s] diverse opinions and new ideas.”

Rumble has long presented itself as a pro-free speech alternative to YouTube. “There is a reason the public has radically turned against both the corporate media and Big Tech: because you have arrogantly claimed for yourselves the power to decide for the public what information they can and cannot be trusted to hear and what views they can and cannot express,” Rumble said in a statement tweeted out Apr. 13, 2022. “By stark contrast, the reason Rumble is growing so rapidly is because we trust adults to make decisions for themselves about what ideas they can express, and we trust them to make up their own minds after hearing all sides.”
