Vivek Ramaswamy mounts White House bid

ESG critic Vivek Ramaswamy has thrown his hat into the 2024 presidential ring, announcing a White House bid on Tuesday.

Ramaswamy — who is the author of the books “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam” and “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence” — is a co-founder of Strive Asset Management. Strive noted on Tuesday that Ramaswamy is stepping down from his role as executive chairman.

“America is in the midst of a national identity crisis. We hunger for purpose at a moment when faith, patriotism and hard work are on the decline. We embrace secular religions like climatism, Covidism and gender ideology to satisfy our need for meaning, yet we can’t answer what it means to be an American,” Ramaswamy wrote in an opinion piece.

The 37-year-old is emphasizing the importance of merit and decrying illegal immigration and affirmative action.

“My parents entered this country legally, worked hard and raised two kids who went on to create businesses that improved the lives of thousands of Americans. We need more immigrants like them, instead of those who break the law when they enter our country. That means securing the border unapologetically and eliminating lottery-based immigration in favor of meritocratic admission,” Ramaswamy wrote.

He has described affirmative action as a “national cancer,” telling Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson that one of his “top priorities will be to end affirmative action in every sphere of American life.”

Former President Donald Trump and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley have already announced presidential bids.

President Joe Biden has indicated that it is his “intention” to run again, but he has yet to make an official announcement declaring his candidacy for the 2024 contest.
