A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for allegedly carjacking a woman at a gas station on Chicago’s South Side a month ago, WFLD-TV reported.

The 13-year-old boy was identified as one of the individuals who took a vehicle by force from a 34-year-old woman in the 6400 block of West Archer Avenue in the city’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood Feb. 7, police told WFLD.

The 13-year-old by was taken into custody in the 6400 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago Lawn, the station said. The arrest location is about five miles east of the crime scene.

The suspect was charged with one felony count of vehicular hijacking and one citation for possessing a replica firearm/pellet gun, WFLD said, adding that it isn’t known when the 13-year-old boy is due in court.

In a separate incident, a 13-year-old boy was among three teenagers charged in an armed carjacking on the morning of Feb. 18 on Chicago’s West Side, police told WLS-TV.

The carjacking took place just after 9 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Trumbull Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood, police added to WLS. The victim was a 41-year-old man, the station reported.

The other suspects were two 15-year-old boys, police told WLS, adding that they all were arrested nearby about 20 minutes after the carjacking took place.
