Frenzied invaders repelled by American border agents and Mexican security forces at El Paso border

News & Politics

A wave of roughly 1,000 foreign nationals seeking illegal entry into the U.S. broke Sunday against a group of stalwart Customs and Border Protection officers, aided by the Mexican military.

CBP officers had to implement “port hardening measures” on the Paso del Norte bridge into El Paso, Texas, Sunday afternoon, after violent migrants broke through Mexican lines and attempted to steal into the U.S. en masse, reported KTSM.

Federal agents similarly had to lay down the law at the Stanton Bridge and the Bridge of the Americas, where frenzied mobs were reportedly trying to breach the border. In their efforts to protect the homeland, border officials restricted entry and temporarily shut down all traffic processing on all three bridges.

CBP officers kept the invaders back using concertina wire and traffic barriers, as well as agents in riot gear, supported in turn by heavily armed Mexican troops.

During the skirmish, some migrants among the predominantly Venezuelan crowd hurled a barrier at American border officers, reported Reuters.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported that a false rumor had circulated on Facebook telling migrants that they could enter into the U.S. if they cited “extreme cases” or brought children, which may partially account for the surge at the three bridges.

Other migrants suggested they have sought to violate American sovereignty because the Biden administration’s CBP One app was suboptimal and prone to glitch.

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) said that the predominantly adult mob rushing the defenses amounted to “an invasion!”

Jackson’s claim echoes Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s November declaration that there is an ongoing “invasion” at the southern border.

According to CBP, without February having been accounted for, 874,449 illegal aliens have entered the U.S. so far this fiscal year, in addition to the over 2.37 million who entered in FY 2022 and the 1.73 million who trespassed in 2021.

TheBlaze previously reported that upon noting that the U.S. was under siege by unprecedented waves of criminal noncitizens, Abbott noted in a letter to county judges along the Texas-Mexico border, “President Biden has abandoned his responsibility to enforce immigration laws, and Congress has refused to hold the President accountable and has abandoned its own responsibility to use the immigration power given to it in Article I, § 8 of the U.S. Constitution.”

Concerning Sunday’s episode, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), tweeted, “Mad rushes like this will continue to happen so long as illegal aliens think the American president doesn’t give a damn about law and order.”

Dade Phelan, Republican speaker of the Texas House, remarked that Texans “are on our own.”

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) called on President Joe Biden Sunday to “immediately ensure CBP and border patrol have the resources necessary to secure our border. Next, let’s build that wall!”

This most recent incursion has even prompted one Democrat to fret.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), told KTSM, “This is the type of event that doesn’t help them (migrants). … It doesn’t help the migrant make their case. I know that they’re tired of waiting and all that, but this type of thing just doesn’t help their case.”

“Even the president is saying, now, ‘Let’s have ’em come in in an orderly process,’ you know. What they’re doing, trying to rush through, doesn’t help their case one bit at all. It does become a little frustrating,” added Cuellar.

El Paso Deputy City Manager Mario D’Agostino told CNN that the crowds had been largely dispersed as of Sunday evening, and the residuals of the angry mob were “just being monitored.”

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, originally from Mexico, declared a state of emergency in December, underscoring that the situation was “not safe” for illegal aliens or American citizens.

No Mr. Cruz, they will continue until patriotic American citizens step up to the plate and do what the anti-American socialist democrat regime traitorously refuses to do!
