Georgia teenager finds his parents dead in driveway of their home, police believe it was a domestic dispute

A teenager found his mother and his stepfather dead in the driveway of their Georgia home on Wednesday, and police believe that the incident was a domestic violence dispute.

Police said they responded to a call of a shooting at a home near Woodington Circle near Pleasant Hill Road and Club Drive in Lawrenceville at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

They found a woman and a man dead in the driveway.

The person who made the call was the couple’s 15-year-old son who lives at the home. Inside the house were two other children, his sisters, who were all unharmed.

Police said the three children were elementary school-aged, middle school-aged, and high school-aged.

Investigators believe that the shooting was a domestic incident and that no other person beside the man and the woman were involved. They were able to recover the weapon used in the shooting at the scene.

“We’re looking into the possibility that this could be a murder-suicide,” said Gwinnet County Police Department Sgt. Michele Pihera to WANF-TV.

A neighbor told WANF that he was heartbroken to hear about the incident.

“My heart fell out this morning because for anybody to perish, to lose a loved one, I can’t imagine how they’re feeling right now. I’m hurt. I’m hurting just because he was close to me, him and his wife,” said Colin Barnes.

Barnes said he was very close to the couple and had even babysat the children.

Police said they will wait to notify the next of kin of the couple before releasing their names. They’re also awaiting a ruling from a medical examiner while their investigation continues.
