NewsBusters Podcast: Raging at the Ron DeSantis Campaign Launch

Gov. Ron DeSantis filed his presidential campaign papers and made it extra-official in a Twitter Spaces interview with Twitter owner Elon Musk, followed by an interview on Fox News Tonight. The Elon-first strategy was trashed on liberal shows from Morning Joe to The View, and Nick Fondacaro has the ugly details on the latest ABC slime.

We also discuss the dissing of Sen. Tim Scott, and how Whoopi Goldberg lowered the boom and said Scott suffers from “Clarence Thomas Syndrome,” as if there’s an infectious disease that turns you into an ungrateful black conservative. Joy Behar even implied Scott and Thomas don’t know what it’s like to be black in America. Like Joy does? (Blackface references aside, it’s a weird take.)

Finally, we look ahead to the just-announced CNN “town hall” show with GOP presidential campaign Nikki Haley. Jake Tapper will be the host of this Sunday-night show — when CNN usually runs soft fare like the Eva Longoria food show Searching for Mexico. Four years ago, Tapper hosted “town halls” with Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, and both shows tilted heavily to the left in the question count. Warren took only one hardball voter question from the right (probably watered down by CNN, we think) on her false claims of Cherokee heritage. Tapper did not follow up. Republicans get a fiercer treatment on CNN, as the last Trump “town hall” just showed.
