‘What Is a Woman?’ documentary blocked on Twitter over ‘misgendering,’ but Elon Musk says it was a mistake

The people behind the popular “What Is a Woman?” documentary about the transgender agenda said the film was blocked on Twitter over two instances of “misgendering,” but Elon Musk responded that it was all a mistake.

Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing detailed the deal made with Twitter to provide the film on the platform.

“Twitter responded with enthusiasm and offered us the opportunity to buy a package to host the movie on a dedicated event page and to promote the event to every Twitter user over the first 10 hours,” Boreing said in a Twitter thread.

The Daily Wire provided Twitter a screener of the movie but then were informed that two instances of “misgendering” led to the deal being terminated.

“They gave us the opportunity to edit the film to comply. We declined,” Boreing said.

He also said that Twitter told the company it would limit the visibility of the movie if the Daily Wire decided to go ahead and post it to Twitter anyway.

“If we can’t debate these issues on Twitter, where can we debate them? If conservatives aren’t welcome on Twitter, where are they welcome? It’s unlikely another centibillionaire will come along to offer an alternative,” concluded Boreing.

Within hours, Musk responded.

“This was a mistake by many people at Twitter. It is definitely allowed,” he said in a tweet.

He later reassured users that the limited visibility for the movie was being fixed.

Boreing said that the film would be published at 8 p.m. EST.

Musk has been criticized widely by those on the left for easing hate speech standards on Twitter in order to avoid underserved censorship of conservative voices. On Thursday, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream said it was discontinuing its paid advertising on Twitter and demanded other companies do the same until Musk act against “the proliferation of hate speech” on the platform.

The “What Is a Woman?” documentary has been excoriated by LGBTQ activists who object to efforts made to prevent the erasure of traditional definitions of sex identities.
