Irate asylum-seeker bludgeons hotel worker over the head with ‘No Parking’ sign after being booted from shelter for disorderly conduct — then dodges arrest by fleeing scene on foot

On Tuesday, an irate asylum-seeker bludgeoned a New York City hotel worker over the head with a “No Parking” sign, the New York Post reported.

An immigrant seeking asylum in the United States became frustrated after he was kicked out of the Roosevelt Hotel on East 45th Street.

After being closed down for several years, the 1,000-room hotel was turned into New York City’s main “asylum seeker arrival center” last month, according to Democratic Mayor Eric Adams.

Early on Tuesday, a migrant who had been previously booted from the hotel for disorderly conduct attempted to re-enter the building, according to police.

A 36-year-old hotel worker, familiar with the migrant’s former unruly behavior, refused to let the man inside. According to authorities, the man was attempting to get back inside to join his wife, who was also residing at the hotel.

Frustrated by the situation, the male migrant allegedly waited outside the building for the worker to leave so that he could confront him, police told the Post.

Cops reported that when the worker exited the hotel, he noticed the migrant and began running to East 46th Street and Fifth Avenue. The migrant reportedly chased after the worker.

Around 1 a.m., the migrant picked up a metal “No Parking” sign belonging to Gotham Hotel and bashed the worker over the head, police said.

The migrant fled the scene on foot before authorities could detain him. Police are still attempting to track down the suspect.

The gruesome attack left the hotel worker with a six-inch gash on his head, the Post reported. He was transported to a nearby hospital and received stitches for his injury.

Days before the assault, Adams visited the Roosevelt Hotel to receive a tour and meet with migrants residing at the facility.

According to Fabien Levy, Adams’ spokesperson, “The mayor wants to make sure everything is OK – that the migrants are being taken care of — and he wants the staff and volunteers to know that he’s got their back.”

Last month, 10 asylum-seeking migrants were arrested at the Stewart Hotel in Midtown for assault and disorderly conduct after getting into physical altercations, police reported.
