Musk says there appears to be much more ‘interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics’

After former President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his attorneys had been notified that he had been indicted, business magnate Elon Musk noted that there appears to be significantly more interest in going after Trump than other political figures.

“There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics. Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement or they will lose public trust,” Musk wrote.

The former president has maintained that he is completely innocent.

“I have been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM. I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country, and is currently leading, by far, all Candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in Polls of the 2024 Presidential Election. I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!” he declared in a statement.

Special counsel Jack Smith said during remarks on Friday that an indictment unsealed on Friday charges “Trump with felony violations of our national security laws” and “participating in a conspiracy to obstruct justice.”

The indictment comes as Trump is currently running for president again, leading the pack of Republican presidential candidates vying to become the party’s 2024 presidential nominee.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is among the field of candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination, issued a tweet in which he said, “The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society. We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter? The DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all.”

Musk responded to someone’s suggestion that “Trump should do a Twitter space to talk about the sham indictment.”

“That would be interesting,” Musk replied.

Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter in 2021, but while Trump’s account was reinstated after Musk took over the company, Trump has not returned to using the platform.
