Nets Gush Over ‘Historic’ New CA Senator, Ignore Key Details

Over the weekend, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom appointed another Democrat to fill the recently deceased Diane Feinstein’s Senate seat. The woman he chose was Laphonza Butler, a radical leftist activist who was the head of the pro-baby killing candidate organization Emily’s List who isn’t even registered to vote in California. All three evening news networks ignored these facts in favor of hyping the “historic” nature of her appointment.

After gushing over Butler all morning during their respective morning shows, ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News took turns swooning.

“Governor Gavin Newsom has tapped Laphonza Butler to finish out the late Senator Diane Feinstein’s Senate term. Laphonza Butler leads Emily’s List that supports women candidates and was a campaign adviser to Kamala Harris, who will swear her in tomorrow,” World News Tonight anchor David Muir gushed.

He failed to inform viewers that Emily’s List only supports pro-abortion women candidates.

Muir added that “Butler will be the only black woman currently serving in the Senate and the first openly LGBTQ person to represent California in the chamber.”

On CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell was a little more honest about Emily’s List during her report on Butler:

History will be made in the U.S. Senate tomorrow when Laphonza Butler is sworn in to fill the seat of the late California Democrat Dianne Feinstein. Butler is the president of Emily’s List, a fund-raising group that backs female candidates who support abortion rights. She will be the first openly gay Senator to represent California and the only black woman in the U.S. Senate, Butler will fill the seat at least until next year’s election.

During his report, NBC’s Ryan Nobles made sure to note Butler is “44 years old” and will be the “first openly gay black woman in the Senate.”

For some reason these facts are important to the left, not that she’s a left-wing abortion radical and isn’t even registered to vote in the state she’s going to represent.
