Yesterday, we caught CNN’s Kasie Hunt claiming that “we may never know” the motive of the suspect in the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Today, it was MSNBC’s turn. On Morning Joe, Jonathan Lemire joined the chorus of liberal media members professing ignorance as to Routh’s motives.
“Now, of course, we don’t know what’s in the mind of this suspected suspect arrested in Florida, nor do we know what happened with the individual who tried to — who shot at former President trump in Pennsylvania back in July. There’s sort of incoherent ideologies for both.”
There’s nothing incoherent about Routh’s ideology or his motives. As we documented yesterday, he has used the Democrats’ favorite line about “democracy on the ballot.” Routh is a registered Democrat who has donated 19 times in recent years to Act Blue, the Democrats’ main donation outfit. He has written of Trump, “I will be glad when you gone.” That give you a hint, Jonathan?
Lemire can claim to be unaware of Routh’s “incoherent” ideology. But there’s nothing incoherent about Lemire’s ideology. As a confirmed member of the liberal media, Lemire is duly dedicated to trashing Trump and boosting Kamala.

6:22 am EDTWILLIE GEIST: So thank God Donald Trump is safe. Thank God he was not assassinated in July or this week. But, my gosh, there is no comparison on the rhetoric.
JONATHAN LEMIRE: Not even close. And to be clear, there’s no place in this country for any sort of political violence. There shouldn’t be any place for political threats of political violence, even.
But it is rank hypocrisy and just truly rich to hear from Donald Trump, of all people, suggesting that the other side is responsible for inciting violence.
Now, of course, we don’t know what’s in the mind of this suspected suspect who was arrested in Florida. Nor do we know what happened with the individual who tried to — who shot at former President Trump in Pennsylvania back in July. There’s sort of incoherent ideologies for both.
But what is clear, and we know this, that Trump has inspired violence, as we’re seeing here on January 6th.
