An Oklahoma attorney was arrested after a sting operation in which he allegedly paid $400 seeking to sexually assault a 5-year-old child.
The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that they arrested 55-year-old Michael Dwaine Lunday after orchestrating a sting in only four hours.
Police said they were alerted to Lunday’s intentions by an informant on Thursday who said that she had been in communication with the man about arranging for sex with a child.
Lunday allegedly texted the informant numerous times before the meeting and said that he had obtained condoms and lubricant for the intended assault.
Investigators with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office set up hidden cameras before the meeting and said they captured Lunday saying that he preferred sexually assaulting younger girls because they were less affected by the assault. He also allegedly said that he wanted to watch child pornography to settle his nerves and ingested Viagra to prepare himself.
Police said they recovered a receipt for the condoms and lubrication purchased from Target.
Lunday was arrested and charged for Lewd Acts with a Child Under 12 and Soliciting Child Prostitution. He was booked into the Canadian County Detention Facility under a bond of $200,000.
“You know when we do predator stings all the time, you know, the conversations we have with the decoys and the suspects, they’re pretty egregious and disgusting,” said Maj. Adam Flowers to KOCO-TV. “What makes this one even more heinous is the fact that it was a five-year-old.”
The next day, police obtained a warrant for his residence and seized various electronic devices including a laptop, an iPad, and his cell phone.
“This sting operation was carried out in a very professional manner by my investigators, and the confidential informant’s role in Lunday’s arrest was paramount in making the operation a success,” said Canadian County Sheriff Chris West.
