Huge announcements for Brighteon.com: Two privacy crypto coins now accepted for tipping, and new comment system now in place

Brighteon.com is the free speech video platform that allows people to tell the truth without being censored. And today we have huge news for all Brighteon.com content creators and viewers.

First, we have enabled content creators to receive two different privacy crypto coins from users who wish to send them crypto. All content creators on Brighteon can now receive crypto from users who enjoy their videos. (See instructions below. It’s easy to set up. No KYC nonsense. Purely non-custodial, P2P, instant.)

Secondly, we have a brand new commenting system that also avoids third-party censorship which has plagued the commenting system for years (until now). More details below.

How to receive crypto on Brighteon as a content creator.

If you have a channel on Brighteon.com (you can set it up for free at Brighteon.com), follow these simple instructions to enable users to send you crypto when they enjoy your videos:

1. Log in to your account at Brighteon.com (top right of the Brighteon.com page).

2. Go to your Dashboard:

3. Click on “Account”

4. On the left side of the Accounts page, you will see the following fields to enter your receive wallet addresses for Monero and Epic Cash (the two coins currently supported. More will be added soon…)

You’re all set!

(Note: Currently the code requires you to enter both a Monero address and an Epic address in order to activate the tipping feature. But within a day or so, that will be changed to “or” logic so that the tip crypto button appears even if you only have one receive address entered.)

Brighteon.TV

(Important: Make sure you open your Epic Cash wallet every 12 hours or so to receive crypto because under the MimbleWimble blockchain, your wallet has to handshake with the sending wallet for the transaction to go through. If you don’t open your wallet, the sender will eventually cancel the transaction.)

(BONUS: Soon we will be giving away Epic Cash coins to users who enable Epic receiving in their Brighteon accounts. This will happen sometime in the next few weeks. You must have your Epic Cash wallet receive address entered into your Brighteon dashboard to receive this “air drop” when it takes place. Every active user will receive a small air drop once this happens.)

Now when people view your videos, a “tip crypto” button will appear automatically beneath your videos:

When a user clicks that button, they can choose the crypto to donate (currently Monero and Epic Cash), and once they do, they will see the QR code and your wallet receive address so they can send crypto to you:

Users / fans / viewers can use any wallet or GUI app to send crypto this way. They choose the amount to send.

Important facts about the crypto tipping system on Brighteon.com

  • Brighteon uses a non-custodial, peer-to-peer tipping system. We do not hold your coins, and we do not take a percentage of the tips.
  • Brighteon has no access to your wallet. We will never ask for access to your wallet, your wallet password or your wallet seed phrase. If anybody is asking you for those things, they are not us, and they are probably trying to steal your coins.
  • Brighteon servers have no record of the tips, since the tips do not use our servers in any way. They are direct, P2P tips between users.
  • The speed at which crypto tips are sent and received depends on your crypto wallets, block speeds, whether your wallet is fully synchronized with the blockchain, and other factors. You can test send crypto to yourself to make sure it’s working (recommended) before advising others to use it.
  • IMPORTANT: If you expect to receive tips in Epic Cash, make sure you open your Epic Cash wallet at least once every 12 – 24 hours so that it can handshake with the sender — a necessary step for MimbleWimble blockchains where sending and receiving wallets have to talk to each other for transactions to succeed.
  • Brighteon only supports privacy coins because we believe in privacy and don’t wish to encouraging users to leave trails of financial transactions on public blockchains such as Bitcoin (which isn’t private).
  • When using privacy coins, posting a receive address publicly does not expose your entire wallet to being visible (unliked with Bitcoin or other public blockchains).
  • Every wallet that works with Monero or Epic will work with these Brighteon tipping system. This includes Stack Wallet, Exodus Wallet, Monero’s wallet, etc.
  • More privacy coins will be added. See my new show Decentralize.TV for upcoming interviews with the leaders and founders of multiple privacy coin projects that will be enabled on Brighteon.com.
  • Remember that all tips are irreversible. Pay attention when you send tips, to make sure you are sending the amount you intend to.
  • It is up to each user who receives crypto tips to comply with your local tax authorities. Brighteon has no knowledge of any transactions and does not report to any taxing authority.

Introducing a new commenting system for Brighteon.com

In addition to rolling out the new crypto tipping system, we have also rolled out a new commenting system across Brighteon.com.

The problem with the previous commenting system is that it was run by a third party which sometimes engaged in censoring some users due to their speech. This was unacceptable to us so we spent more than one year building and testing our own commenting system.

The new system that we built is now in place. To use it, you must be logged in to Brighteon.com (no anonymous comments are accepted), so create an account on Brighteon.com if you’d like to post comments.

That same account can always be used to post videos to your Brighteon channel as well, but that’s not required. If you wish, you can use your account solely for commenting. You’ll find the commenting system below each video on Brighteon.

Our investment of time and money in this system is part of our dedication to free speech. Thank you for your support!
