Pro-Palestinian protesters took turns battering a piñata bearing the image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, on Wednesday, the Times of Israel reported.
Amid the familiar chant of “Free, free Palestine!” and ecstatic cheering from onlookers, it appeared that the female leading the chant also hollered, “Beat that f***in’ Jew!”
The pro-Palestinian protesters caught on camera giving a whipping to the Netanyahu piñata — which was colored blue and white like the Israeli state flag and in the shape of a police badge — concealed their faces with masks or with fashionable “keffiyeh” scarves favored by the most radical of leftists:

Except for this smiling woman, who seemed particularly pleased after her figurative beating of Israel’s head of state. The other side of the spinning piñata showed an image of a police car:

A male got the biggest outpouring of support when he eschewed the baton and instead punched the piñata, pulled it down, and then used his knee to break it apart:

No candy fell to the ground this time.
One would have to wonder what’s going through the minds of Jewish students witnessing all of this. To that end, the individual who posted video of the piñata battering predicted, “They will start with punching piñatas and end with punching Jews.”

Biden gets his turn, too
The Times of Israel reported that pro-Palestinian protesters at UCLA also battered a piñata bearing the image of President Joe Biden.
“Destroy the Joe Biden piñata!” a female hollered amid more cheering. Sounding an awful lot like the female who led the “Free, free Palestine!” chants as the Netanyahu piñata got pummeled, in this clip the female’s voice cracks as she screams, “Long live Palestine!”
How are folks reacting?
Most observers of the piñata pulverizing were disturbed. Here’s a sampling:
- “And we still question how the Holocaust happened,” one commenter said.
- “We have to come to reckoning as to what happens when free speech crosses over into violent hate speech. If someone says something you find offensive you walk away,” another commenter wrote. “If their speech says they want to harm or kill you all bets are off — it’s not constitutionally protected nor should it be.”
- “How is this legal? It’s incitement for violence,” another commenter stated. “One side [of the piñata] features a police car! This time it’s Netanyahu, next time it might be any other other person they target. Every American citizen should be terrified of these images.”
- “I don’t know if you got the memo, but they’ve been punching Jews already,” another user observed.
