Trans Space Force lt. col. speaks on the future of the U.S. military: ‘Inclusion is a national security imperative.’

News & Politics

The future is trans, according to Lt. Colonel Bree Fam, who was just featured at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit.

“Inclusion is a national security imperative,” Fam said. “We fight today, and we are going to fight in the future using brain power, and if that brain ([that’s] going to revolutionize the way we fight in space, we fight in cyber) just happens to be in a trans body, you should want them all serving alongside you…we need those perspectives, but it’s inclusion that actually drives that.”

However, if trans people “don’t feel safe to speak up, if they don’t feel safe to bring their full selves to work, you’re not going to get the value of the diversity, so for us it is absolutely critical to drive our future success as an organization and potentially on the battlefield,” Fam added.

Pat Gray and Keith Malinak can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of Fam’s words.

“I feel safe,” mocks Keith.

“You want all of these stable individuals involved in the biggest military decisions on this planet,” adds Pat sarcastically.
