CBS’s ‘Bloodbath’ Mass Firing Claimed Award-Winning Reporter Catherine Herridge

Former Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge was the one serious journalist inside the liberal broadcast networks to truly investigate Hunter Biden’s laptop and the Biden family’s web of corruption; when she joined CBS News as an investigative correspondent. But as of Tuesday, Herridge found herself out of a job amid a wave of firings at the network and Paramount Global properties. Her ouster drew outrage from her coworkers at the Washington, D.C. Bureau.

It was the New York Port who broke the story in “Bloodbath at Paramount claims 800 jobs including CBS News journalists embroiled in controversy.”

According to Post media reporter Alexandra Steigrad, Herridge might have been targeted directly by the network’s president: “Sources said Herridge had clashed with CBS News president Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews — a sharp-elbowed executive who was investigated in 2021 over favoritism and discriminatory hiring and management practices, as revealed by The Post.”

Apparently, it was Herridge’s dogged persistence in investigating Hunter Biden that put her on the chopping block:

Viewers and journalists alike slammed CBS News over this week’s firing of Catherine Herridge — an award-winning senior correspondent who sources said had run into “internal roadblocks” at the network as she covered the Hunter Biden laptop story.

(…)

But Herridge’s most recent assignment — covering the Hunter Biden probe — put her under a microscope at the left-leaning network, The Post has learned.

It was well understood on Capitol Hill that Herridge was among the first to receive tips about the Hunter Biden investigation but she ran into “internal roadblocks at CBS News,” sources said.

But Herridge apparently had earned the respect of the rank and file inside the CBS D.C. Bureau. In a follow-up article, Steigrad reported that her former colleagues were “outraged” and “bewildered” by her firing in particular, even though many others were fired from the D.C. office as well.

One source inside CBS told The Post that everyone was “shocked and dismayed” by Herridge’s ouster and “can’t make sense of this decision” since she “‘brought credibility’ to the company.”

As an investigative correspondent, Herridge worked under Matt Mosk; a guy who helped create a documentary with ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos that promoted the debunked Steele Dossier as fact.

So, clearly, CBS didn’t want truth-tellers in their investigative unit.
