A viral video showed the moment a woman hopped out of her car to grab condiments at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru before the vehicle began to roll away towards busy traffic.
The incident unfolded at the Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 9 according to WECT-TV.
The video shows the woman hop out of her car but then run after it after realizing that it was rolling away. In the background, a busy street can be seen beyond the parking lot of the restaurant.
“Get your car!” yells one Chick-fil-A employee at her.
“This is why we’re concerned, ma’am!” says another in the video.
“Oh God! Please tell her to stop!” another says.
The video cuts out as the woman chases her car, but WECT reports that she was able to climb into the car again. Unfortunately, it still crashed through a retaining wall and into a ditch below, according to the family of the woman. They said that the car was a total loss.
The family claimed that the woman accidentally knocked the vehicle into neutral and was uninjured in the crash. However, they said that she was arrested for driving while impaired based on her failing a police field sobriety test.
The video captured by another person in the drive-thru went viral on TikTok and Facebook with millions of views.

The family is upset because the woman was arrested despite her blood alcohol level being recorded at 0.00.
They added that the woman had dealt with substance abuse issues in her past but that she had been sober for months before the accident. They also said that it was difficult for the woman to deal with the online abuse she had received over the video.
