“Saturday Night Live” alum Leslie Jones said that a “black woman” should “definitely” be the next host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” — and she wants the job.

People said when Trevor Noah left the show in December 2022 after helming the program for seven years, Jones was the first guest host in his place.
She also told the magazine that the next host of the show “definitely should be a black woman.”
“Now, I’m not s**ting on white women or whatever. I’m just saying it would be great to have a black woman on late night. It’s time. I think people are ready for that,” Jones added to People.
What’s more, that host ought to be her, she added to the magazine, pointing to her experience guest hosting “The Daily Show.”
“It was one of those in-the-pocket fits. You know how when you get fitted for a suit, and you’re like, ‘Yeah, this suit looks nice on me. Yo, I don’t mind wearing this style on me.’ ‘The Daily Show’ was [that],” Jones also told People.

Jones has made a number of controversial headlines in recent years.
A couple of them revolved around her role in the all-female cast of the 2016 “Ghostbusters” sequel. At the time, alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos tore into Jones on Twitter over her role in the movie — which eventually led to his permanent ban from the platform. After Jones reported Yiannopoulos to Twitter, he was done.
In 2019, Jones ripped the movie that would become “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” because it was set to ignore the all-female cast she was part of in 2016. “So insulting. Like f*** us,” she tweeted. “We dint count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice) ‘Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give f*** I’m saying something!!”
During an early 2017 stand-up routine, Jones said she would get violent with the next “white woman” she sees who says “black lives matter.” But she also ripped political correctness during a 2018 appearance on “The View,” saying, “Stop walking around so offended — you’re not gonna be able to survive life if you walk around offended.”
