A State Department media briefing turned into a contentious debate after a reporter called out a spokesman for the Biden administration for stealing credit from the previous administration.
State Dept. spokesman Ned Price was touting a new report showing that support had significantly lessened for an energy project that would increase Germany’s dependence on Russia for oil.
Price was interrupted while patting himself on the back when Matt Lee of the Associated Press rained on his parade with his pointed question.
“That demonstrates that our strategy, including the legislative strategy, the strategy that, of course, Congress has been behind, has been working to good effect. So we’ll continue to work closely with Germany. We’ll continue to work closely with our other allies and partners in Europe to uphold Europe’s own stated energy security goals,” Price said.
“Isn’t it a bit disingenuous to claim credit for the 18 companies winding down?” asked Lee. “All of this work was done under the previous administration.
“You guys have only been in office for a month, right? Are you telling me that in the last four weeks these 18 companies all of the sudden decided to say, ‘Oh my God! We better not do anything with Nord Stream 2,'” Lee said, referring to the proposed pipeline project.
“You guys are taking credit for stuff the previous administration did,” Lee asked. “Yes or no?”
“I am speaking for the Department of State!” Price said. “The people who have been working this, and the people who are working this now, were the same people a month ago, were the same people three months ago!”
Price went on to say that the Biden position on the pipeline was the same as that of the previous administration.
“We are concerned about the influence that it would allow Russia, and the leverage that it would give the Russian regime over some of our closest allies and partners in Europe,” he concluded.

To be fair they did give Trump credit for things that had been done prior to his taking office, like breaking up immigrant families.
Which was also STARTED by the Obama/Biden administration. If you are going to point fingers point them in the correct direction.
And as reported today, the Biden administration is using the same facilities for the same purpose. They claim it is for their own good.
And Biden deserves credit for circumventing the the legislation branch and ruling like a monarch, costing thousands their jobs during a Pandemic, killing Texans but sending aid too late to too little, not enough vaccine s available, not enough testing, keeping children out of schools and generally behaving like a 16 year old with a new car! Someone put a leash on this old goat.
There was a coup in January, but it was by the Democrats. The very ones who were saying that President Trump was a dictator. Has anyone realized just how many Executive Orders, biden has signed? Or, how many valid, and positive works, biden has destroyed, and is continuing to destroy. The ‘politics as usual’ crowd should watch out. More, and more, people are realizing the fallacy of the lying politician in the last election. The ‘silent majority’ is waking up, but so are some of the common sense Democrats.

You can give credit to the Obama administration for putting immigrant children in cages in 2014.

Democrats proved they could do whatever they want. Harris could barely get 2% of the vote when she ran for president. Good ol’ Hillary tells her, after realizing Harris did not have a chance at winning, don’t worry, we’ll get you on the Biden ticket. It’s a sure win. Does anyone remember that Obama didn’t even endorse Biden? It took Obama quite awhile to give his endorsement. I’m wondering if that was because Obama wanted a guarantee from Biden that he would be number 1 person making decisions in Biden and company.
And isn’t that just the way of democrats…take credit for someone else’s work and hope no one catches on. Looks like we’re well on our way to becoming the next siht hole in the world. We’ve now got the leadership.
