Louisville Mayoral Candidate Shot at in His Office in ‘Attempted Assassination’

Kentucky – Craig Greenberg, a Democrat Louisville mayoral candidate, was shot at in his office Monday morning in an assassination attempt, police said.

Mr. Greenberg was unharmed, however a round hit his clothes.

An unidentified suspect has been taken into custody.

“My team and I are fortunately all safe. We are all with LMPD now. I will provide an update as soon as possible. Thank you for the outpouring of support.” Greenberg said in a tweet.

Police say a person has been detained who they believe walked into a mayoral candidate’s office and fired shots.

The situation unfolded just after 10 a.m. on Monday at Butchertown Market on Story Avenue.

This is where Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg has an office. Metro Council President David James told WLKY that someone went into Greenberg’s office and fired multiple shots at him.

Both James and Chief Erika Shields say they believe the democratic candidate was the target. James called it an assassination attempt.

Shields said no one was hurt, but that a round did hit Greenberg’s clothes.

“We consider ourselves very fortunate today,” Shields said.
