College student arrested for making death threat against GOP congressman over gay rights: ‘I will take a bullet to your f***ing head’

A college student was arrested after he allegedly left a message, including a death threat, against a member of Congress over gay rights, federal prosecutors said.

Although the member of Congress was not named in the statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a spokesperson for Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida confirmed that he had received the message.

Allan Poller, a 23-year-old student of Keene State College in New Hampshire, allegedly left a recorded message after midnight on Wednesday morning and spelled out his name before making the death threat against Gaetz.

“If you keep on coming for the gays, we’re going to strike back, and I guarantee you, you do not want to f*** with us,” the voicemail reportedly said.

“We will kill you if that’s what it takes. I will take a bullet to your [expletive] head if you [expletive] with my rights anymore.”

The student allegedly admitted to leaving the voicemail when he was confronted by campus security outside a classroom.

Poller said that he was “emotional and intoxicated” when he left the message and that he did not plan to hurt himself or others, according to an affidavit. He also claimed that he did not own any guns.

His attorney referred to him as a “peaceful young man” and student.

“He means no ill will toward anybody and does not believe in violence or disruptive protest,” the attorney added. “He is mindful of the allegations against him and will allow the legal process to continue without further comment at this time.”

Poller was charged with transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure the person of another. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Keene State College said they were cooperating with the investigation.
