NewsBusters Podcast: CNN’s Soggy Subway Sandwich with Anti-Trump Sauce

News & Politics

Breaking news of another Trump indictment wiped out other news stories on CNN and MSNBC. It was like a tsunami of news — a “newsami”? The problem is that so much of this chatter isn’t actual information. It’s large chunks of speculation and guesswork about what’s going to happen in the next weeks or months after multiple Trump indictments.

This was the most amusing part: CNN loves special counsel Jack Smith so much they filmed and celebrated his lunch trip to Subway, which they invested with great meaning. “Turns out even Jack Smith can’t resist a $5 footlong,” gushed Dana Bash. She insisted the “imagery” was an important rebuttal to Trump. “He stood in line like everybody else,” oozed Evan Perez.

John King even declared the sandwich was a “message for Donald Trump,” that he won’t be bullied and he’s “not going anywhere,” which might be the silliest thing John King has ever said on CNN.

We also discuss how the media pounced on Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) for blurting out the term “colored people” on the House floor. This was treated as a grave mistake, but no one asked the racial experts for a statement over at the NAACP — the National  Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Shouldn’t they retract that name if the term is offensive?

Meanwhile, Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) compared abortion pills to Tylenol and antibiotics. No “fact checkers” could be disturbed.

We wrap up by summarizing the latest wokeness outburst over country state Jason Aldean’s song about small-town values like sticking up for old ladies, cops, and the American flag. They somehow twisted into an evil racist ditty about lynching. Aldean issued a statement that none of his lyrics referred to race. But that doesn’t mean the lefties can’t aggressive read things in between the lines.
