A Nevada teacher is accused of sexually abusing a female student over a four-year period. The former Christian school teacher from Las Vegas groomed a female student and threatened to kill herself if the victim informed authorities, according to police.
Kaitlin Glover was charged on Wednesday with lewdness with a child of 14 or 15 and two counts of being a school employee engaging in sexual conduct with a pupil 16 or older, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The victim said she was in a relationship with Glover from 2017 until 2021, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Law & Crime reported, “According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department declaration of warrant/summons, grooming soon followed via Snapchat, where Glover started ‘talking about previous relationships and sex acts.'”
“[The victim] told Glover she had never done anything sexual with anyone and Glover had replied that she would teach her how to masturbate when she turned 18,” court documents stated. “Shortly after, [the victim] states that Glover began sending her nude photos through Snapchat.”
The 34-year-old teacher allegedly went by the screen name of “MissG-lover” on the Snapchat app. The girl also claimed that the two would engage in phone sex.
Starting in fall of 2018, the victim said Glover would pick her up from school and then perform sex acts on her in the teacher’s green van, according to the arrest report.
The victim told police that she didn’t tell anyone about the illegal relationship because the teacher allegedly threatened to kill herself if she told anyone about the sexual abuse, according to court docs.
The victim reportedly informed authorities about the child sex crimes after finding out that Glover was allegedly “having a relationship with another student.”
Glover denied all of the allegations when she was questioned by police on July 6, 2022. She told investigators that she acted as a mother figure and mentor to the student.
Glover’s defense lawyer, Joel Mann, presented police with two letters allegedly written by the student to the teacher.
“The victim states that Kaitlyn Ann Glover is her mother and that she is better than her biological mother. In the letter [the victim] wrote, ‘I’m trying to do my best to be worth [sic] of your love,’ and if Kaitlynn [sic] decides one day to not be her mom she would be upset,” the letter dated on Mother’s Day allegedly stated.
“The other letter also tells Glover that she feels she is her hero and Glover has changed her life,” the letter said, according to court docs.
However, police uncovered that the former teacher and student contacted each other regularly on cell phones, including telling each other that “they loved each other” approximately 500 times during the four-year relationship, court documents say.
Glover had been employed at Mountain View Christian Schools since August 2014 and was a former athletics and student leadership director.
Attorney Marc Cook, who represents Mountain View Christian Schools, told KVVU-TV:
The undersigned represents Mountain View. My understanding is that this student graduated in 2021. A family member contacted the school about these allegations this summer. The Ms. Glover does not work at the school and has not worked at the school since the family came forward to the school with the allegations. The School has and will continue to cooperate with the Metropolitan Police Department but they have not shared their findings with the School. We wish the very best for the former student and hope the legal process and investigation get to the truth of this matter as expeditiously as possible.
Glover is out on bail. She is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 14.
