New Survey Exposes TikTok’s Disturbing Influence in Gen Z Women

News & Politics

A new survey revealed that TikTok’s influence over Americans is only growing, thus increasing the Chinese Communist Party’s surveillance of citizens.

Indeed, the Her Campus Media survey revealed that the CCP–tied app is the top search engine for more than half of Gen Z women over Google. Gen Z, sometimes referred to as “zoomers,” is the name of the generation for people born in the mid-to-late 1990s to the early 2010s. The surveyed Gen Z women claimed they used TikTok over Google because of instant video results, relatable answers and personalized answers. Notably, over 90 percent of the world uses Google search.

Further results of TikTok’s dangerous influence were even more troubling.

TikTok reported that videos with the hashtag #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt received 12.4 billion video views. The survey added that  3 out of 4 Gen Z individuals surveyed bought something after seeing it on TikTok, meaning the CCP-tied app has unprecedented influence over young consumers. Users can click a link on a TikTok post and directly purchase the recommended item.

This information corroborates MRC Free Speech America reports warning against the dangerous influence TikTok has over its users. MRC Free Speech America reported that TikTok specifically attracts young women by being “relevant.” In April, TikTok’s sister app Lemon8, gained traction after “cater[ing] to a Gen Z audience [and] features a mix of TikTok-like videos and Instagram-like photos.” Both TikTok and Lemon8 companies are owned by ByteDance which has troubling ties to the Chinese communist government.

At the time of the article’s publishing, Lemon8 had reportedly been downloaded in the United States by approximately 650,000 users in under two weeks.

Most concerning, TikTok presents a national security risk that threatens the privacy and safety of everyone.

Forbes reported on Sept. 27 that TikTok and ByteDance employees have had virtually unlimited access to the personal friends and contacts of celebrities and politicians.

“TikTok and ByteDance staff around the world have been able to freely access the friend lists of the First Family, top internet stars and other public figures, creating national security risks in a heated election year and endangering the privacy of some of the most powerful people on the planet,” Forbes reported.

Some of the notable high profile public figures scrutinized by employees of ByteDance or TikTok include Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, the family of President Joe Biden.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact TikTok via email at feedback@tiktok.com or by mail at 10010 Venice Blvd #301, Culver City, CA 90232 and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives.
