The Minneapolis Police Department has pulled its officers away from several locations in the city after protests over the death of George Floyd erupted in violence, looting, and vandalism on Wednesday night.
What are the details?
As a Target store, a liquor store, and an Auto Zone were all overcome by looters, a KARE-TV reporter noted to Police Chief Medaria Arradondo that there was no police presence at the locations during an evening interview. Arradondo explained, “Our main priority for our officers there are the safety of those who are out there.”
The chief noted that there were peaceful protestors who were “in the mix of those who are causing destruction,” and said the MPD wanted to make sure they had the resources in place to protect the peaceful protestors and to preserve “life and safety.”
The KARE reported then asked, while showing footage of the looting at Target, “I want to make sure I’m understanding you correctly. So, what you’re saying is it’s too dangerous for police to directly confront the looters, so, you’ve made the decision to maybe let that site go for now and focus on keeping the rest of the neighborhood as safe as possible?”
“Absolutely,” Arradondo replied, adding that his officers have had “Molotov cocktails thrown at them, rocks, and other projectiles. And so, obviously, their safety is paramount. So, I don’t want them going into an area where they’re at risk of harm themselves.”
The Target store was overrun, and footage online showed shelves stripped bare, with reports of looters “using power tools to open cash registers.”
As the evening wore on, the Auto Zone in the 3rd precinct was set on fire, and a reporter from the Minnesota Reformer noted that police arrived at the scene “to help secure [the] perimeter” for firefighters.

The riots were just a excuse to loot and destroy. Only ones who were spared were the Koreans who defended their stores with firepower.

Had I been the governor I’d of had the National Guard, locked and loaded, on site and surrounding the looters and rioters as fast as they could be assembled.
And everyone in that contained area would have been arrested, with those with stolen goods taken to jail and held as long as possible without bond.
But, as with all things today, one must look at the City and State government…. in this case, as one would expect, it is by Democrats. If nothing else should be known by now, it’s that Democrats destroy everything they come in contact with. It’s not a matter of anything more than time.

I have seen the video. The cop who was kneeling on this mans neck knew exactly what he was doing. This man lost consciousness the bladder control as his urine trailed down to the gutter. This cop has done this before I am sure. This was murder he knew the lost of resistance indicated the man was unconscious yet he continued out of hatred to hold his weight on his neck occluding blood flow to his brain most likely eliciting an ischemic stroke then death. Murder on the street. I have lost all respect for the police,I am an elderly white woman professional but this is giving someone the license to kill. There are criminals in uniform and there needs to be vetting to get them out. Consequently the Police have made themselves targets As for the opportunists who riot to loot. Absolute shame on the police department. They are there and paid to ‘Protect & Serve’. That includes everyone, not just whom they decide. They know the dangers when they become police officers and that is to ‘Help’ those who pay for their assistance and protection. Still reminds me of the cops hiding behind cars and buildings while children were being shot in the school…waiting possibly until they (the cops) were safe and maybe were not hearing anymore gunfire. One of the most shameful and disgusting acts I’ve ever seen in law enforcement. They are often too quick to be overly aggressive against a peaceful protestor, or a defiant but peaceful citizen standing for their rights, but also to quick to run and hide and let the very people they are suppose to subdue and stop…to run amuck.
Thank goodness our military doesn’t respond in like manner in such circumstances. We’d have to wear little mirrors on our helmets so we could see the progress of the war as we ran the other way!
