NewsBusters Podcast: Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan School Sunday Hosts

News & Politics

Tom Jones, a liberal analyst at the Poynter Institute, praised CBS’s Margaret Brennan and NBC’s Chuck Todd for aggressively taking on (respectively) Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Rep. Jim Jordan on their Sunday shows. But as our Kevin Tober reported, McCarthy and Jordan gave as good as they got, exposing the network hosts as the Democrats that they are.

Brennan proclaimed to McCarthy: “According to CBS records, 70 percent of the House GOP members denied the results of the 2020 election. You put many of them on very key committees, Intelligence, Homeland Security, Oversight. Why are you elevating people who are denying reality like that?” McCarthy shot back that Bennie Thompson and Jamie Raskin, both celebrated Democrats on the House January 6 Committee, were election deniers. McCarthy added that Brennan didn’t ask Democrats like Nancy Pelosi about that.

On NBC, Chuck Todd tried to make a big deal out of how school board-protesting parents sent death threats to school board members, so it was only logical that the Biden administration would warn about parental protesters from coast to coast. Jordan shot back: “One of the people they went to investigate is a mom and they said because she’s in the group Moms for Liberty and because they have firearms at their house they go investigate her. You’re gonna investigate an American for that? They show up at your house? You don’t think that has a chilling impact on other parents?”
