Video shows suspect carjack driver while trying to escape police after allegedly murdering his father in Texas

A stunning surveillance video captured the moment an armed man carjacked a bystander’s vehicle while a police officer chased him for allegedly shooting and murdering his father in Texas.

Police said officers caught up with the man later, and he was shot and killed after firing at them.

The incident unfolded when a woman called Houston police and said that she heard a gunshot after her son had gotten into an argument with his father. When police arrived, they said they found the father dead from a gunshot wound and the son had fled the scene.

About 10 minutes later, police were called about a man trying to carjack parents dropping off their children at the Buffalo Creek Elementary School. They said the man allegedly tried to gain entry into the school but ran off.

Police said that the same man then carjacked two other vehicles while trying to escape police.

One of those incidents was caught on surveillance video and showed the man hop out of one car and bang on the windows of another car as the police officer drove up behind him.

While the officer climbed out of his vehicle, the man was able to pull the driver out of his car and drive away. The officer then climbed back into his vehicle and chased after the man again.

Police said that the man ended up at a dead end behind a building on Campbell Road and got out of his vehicle to fire a shot at the police officer. The officer returned fire and killed the suspect.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said they were still investigating the motivation for the crime spree but added that the suspect had a prior criminal history.

“He has a very lengthy criminal history, and in all likelihood should have been in prison,” said Finner. “But instead he’s out walking the streets, committing crimes, and as a result, many lives are damaged and obviously his father is dead.”

KHOU-TV was able to talk to one of the victims of the carjacking named Mike Noble.

“So I pulled over to get out of the way, next thing I know is, I saw an individual pull up behind me and jumped out of his car with a gun pointed at me and demanded I get out of the car,” Noble said.

He said that he did as he was told and hid in a ditch.

“I’m very grateful I’m alive right now. Grateful to the police that handled the situation,” he added.
