Majority of Americans doubt Biden can still serve another term after a report revealed the extent of his COGNITIVE DECLINE

A new ABC News/Ipsos poll has found that the majority of Americans doubt President Joe Biden can still serve another term after a report revealed the extent of his cognitive decline.

A few days before the poll, Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Counsel Robert Hur called the president “an elderly man with a poor memory“ in his report. He mentioned a few interviews done in October wherein the 81-year-old Biden struggled to recall basic facts about his life and career. The president reportedly ”did not remember when he was vice president” and ”did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”

On that same day, Biden quickly made an appearance at the White House to address the report. However, he became irritated with the press as he tried to defend his mental state while projecting himself as fine. (Related: DOJ special counsel report describes Biden as having “diminished faculties” and “faulty memory” – proving critics right that he is in a state of COGNITIVE DECLINE.)

“My memory is fine,” Biden lashed out at one reporter. He then turned to another reporter, saying: “My memory is so bad, I let you speak.” This anger in turn had a bad impact on Americans.

The poll, conducted from Feb. 9 to Feb. 10 among 528 adults aged 18 or older, found that 86 percent of Americans doubt Biden’s ability to serve another term. The findings indicate that a significant majority of Americans, across party lines, question his fitness for office, with 73 percent of Democrats believing Biden is too old to serve and 91 percent of Independents sharing the sentiment.

Hur also stated in his report that Biden was too senile to be prosecuted for the wrongful retention of classified documents after leaving the vice presidency. Now, Americans are divided on whether he should have been charged with a crime for the mishandling of classified documents. The respondents are evenly split, with 38 percent saying he should have been charged; 34 percent saying he should not have been charged; and 28 percent expressing uncertainty.

Poll drags Trump into the “too old to run” narrative to downplay Biden’s cognitive decline

Critics, however, accused ABC News and Ipsos of downplaying the cognitive decline of Biden by incorporating former President Donald Trump into the “too old to run” narrative.

According to the report, the poll also shows that 62 percent of Americans think that the 77-year-old Trump is too old to serve as president. Meanwhile, 59 percent of Americans think that both Biden and Trump are too old to serve for a second term and only 27 percent think that Biden is the only one too old for the role. Additionally, a mere 11 percent think neither candidate is too old.

Moreover, the report went on to focus on Trump’s indictment on federal charges to further mask the cognitive decline of Biden instead of highlighting that a considerable portion of Americans believe Trump would outperform Biden in some key areas.

For instance, the report stressed that 66 percent of Americans believe Trump should not have immunity from criminal prosecution for actions taken while he was president.

Meanwhile, the poll buried its finding at the bottom that 44 percent believe Trump would handle immigration and the border better, while only 26 percent believe would do better. Similar sentiments are reflected in the handling of crime (41 percent to 28 percent), the economy (43 percent to 31 percent), and inflation (41 percent to 31 percent).
