On the last episode of NBC’s Meet the Press with moderator Chuck Todd at the helm, Todd prodded California Democrat governor Gavin Newsom to run against President Joe Biden in the 2024 Democrat presidential primary. This final moment of Democrat Party hackery from Todd (at least during Meet the Press) came during a sitdown interview he had with Newsom. Todd’s justification for urging Newsom to run is the fact that his idol, former Attorney General and New York Democrat Senator Robert F. Kennedy ran against incumbent Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson.
“Something that has hit me for a while with you in particular, your political hero is Bobby Kennedy,” Todd exclaimed while prefacing his lobbying Newsom to run in 2024.
Newsom simply replied “Yeah.”
“What would Bobby do? Bobby ran,” Todd gushed. “Bobby ran.”
“He did it. Now, you could argue that he waited for somebody else to prove LBJ was vulnerable before jumping in,” Todd added. “We can debate the particulars of when. If you’re gonna go bold, sometimes you go when everybody tells you not to go.”
From there Newsom told Todd he’s supporting Biden and therefore won’t be a candidate for president in 2024.
This is how bad Biden’s prospects are for reelection. You have loyal Democrat propagandists like Chuck Todd attempting to jump the sinking Biden ship and urge Democrats like Newsom to run instead.
To paraphrase 1988 Democrat Vice Presidential candidate Lloyd Bentsen: “Governor, you’re no Bobby Kennedy.”
