Pastor allegedly raped girl since she was 7 years old, dropped off baby at a fire station after she secretly gave birth, Houston police say

A Houston-area pastor is being accused of horrendous crimes involving the repeated rape of a girl for more than a decade, since she was 7 years old.

Robert L. Carter, 39, allegedly first raped the girl in 2008 and did so hundreds of times since then, according to a criminal complaint.

The girl’s father told KPRC-TV that Carter had been like a family member when he took advantage of his daughter. He didn’t want to be publicly identified in order to keep his daughter’s privacy.

“She had been around this monster since she was about 6 years old,” he said. “He’s (Carter) always been big to her. I had to realize that she had been fearful.”

Carter was identified as the senior pastor of the Sanctuary Church of Christ. The criminal complaint accused him of raping the girl in numerous places, including a parking lot of a grocery store, his grandmother’s home, and even at Carter’s church office at the Greater Bible Way Church.

“I don’t understand how you can carry yourself, walk around preaching the word, and live a lie,” the father said.

The warrant says that the girl was impregnated by Carter when she was 16 years old and she was forced to secretly give birth to the baby.

“What if she would’ve died that night? She had that baby in the closet, by herself. He came and got the baby and took the baby to a fire station and dropped the baby off,” the father added.

KPRC said that the father told the outlet his daughter is trying to regain custody of her child.
